How this tool works
Inputs, units and where to find them
| Input | Unit | Typical source |
|---|---|---|
| Roller centre distance | mm | Calibrated distance between the roller centres, not the overall bar length. |
| Setting angle | ° | Angle from the reference plane. |
Method and formulas
- Height difference = roller centre distance × sin(angle).
- Example: a 200 mm centre distance at 30° requires a 100 mm height difference.
- A one-micrometre height change gives approximately 0.001 ÷ (length × cos(angle)) radians of angular change.
Limitations
- Assumes equal rollers, clean contacts and correct bar geometry.
- At steep angles, height errors cause larger angular errors; the tool does not certify measurement uncertainty.
- Example values are illustrations. Replace them with values for your actual task.
Typical uses
- sine bar
- gauge blocks
- angle setting
Who it is for
- Inspectors
- Toolmakers
What you get
- Height difference
- Angle change per 1 µm height error
Interpreting the result
- Use calibrated blocks and the instrument’s permitted angle range.
