How this tool works
Inputs, units and where to find them
| Input | Unit | Typical source |
|---|---|---|
| Shift length | hr | Shift length |
| Breaks + planned stops | min | Breaks, meetings and planned stops in minutes |
| Cycle time / unit | min | Cycle time per unit per station |
| Parallel stations | stations | Parallel stations |
| Efficiency | % | Demonstrated efficiency over recent shifts |
Method and formulas
- Net time = shift × 60 − breaks
- Theoretical output = net time × stations ÷ cycle
- Practical output = theoretical × efficiency
Limitations
- Assumes one product per shift
Typical uses
- Setting shift targets
- Checking daily plans
Who it is for
- Supervisors
- Planners
What you get
- Practical units per shift
- Theoretical output and hourly rate
Interpreting the result
- Calibrate efficiency against real shift output
