At KEVOS, we pride ourselves on delivering cutting-edge engineering solutions that empower our clients to achieve their goals. Recently, we had the privilege of collaborating with Unique Tooling Pty Ltd, a leader in precision manufacturing, on two transformative projects. These projects not only showcased our technical expertise but also reinforced the power of trust and partnership in driving innovation. We are thrilled to share the story of how we helped Unique Tooling enhance their in-house capabilities and automate critical processes, all while meeting the highest industry standards.

Quick Reverse Engineering for In-House Manufacturing

When Unique Tooling needed to rapidly reverse engineer critical tool parts for in-house production, they turned to us for a solution. The challenge was clear: recreate complex parts with precision and speed to minimize downtime and reduce reliance on external suppliers. Our team at KEVOS rose to the occasion, employing state-of-the-art 3D scanning technology to capture every intricate detail of the existing parts. This allowed us to generate highly accurate CAD models and manufacturing drawings, ensuring that Unique Tooling could produce the parts in-house with confidence.

The project was not without its hurdles—tight deadlines and the complexity of the parts demanded a meticulous approach. However, our engineers worked closely with Unique Tooling’s team to validate each model, ensuring that every specification was met. The result? A seamless transition to in-house manufacturing that has since enabled Unique Tooling to reduce costs, improve production flexibility, and maintain the high quality their customers expect.

Automating Pick and Place for Food-Grade Manufacturing

In addition to reverse engineering, we embarked on an exciting product design project to automate the pick and place process at Unique Tooling’s blow molding machine. The goal was to replace manual handling with a fully automated system, specifically tailored for food-grade applications. This was no small feat—food-grade manufacturing requires strict adherence to hygiene and safety standards, and any automation solution had to be both efficient and compliant.

Our design team began by thoroughly understanding the operational challenges and regulatory requirements. We then developed a custom automation solution, complete with 3D modeling and drafting drawings for manufacturing. The design featured a robotic arm integrated with the blow molding machine, capable of precisely picking and placing products without human intervention. This not only reduced the risk of contamination but also significantly boosted productivity by minimizing manual errors and labor costs.

The impact was immediate: Unique Tooling now enjoys a streamlined, efficient process that meets the highest food-grade standards while enhancing overall output. As one of our engineers put it, “It was incredibly rewarding to see our design come to life and make such a tangible difference in their operations.”

A Partnership Built on Trust and Excellence

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering trust and support of Unique Tooling’s leadership. We extend our deepest gratitude to Graham Lee, General Manager, and Daniel Kohoutek, Production Supervisor, for believing in our vision and expertise. Their insights and collaboration were instrumental in ensuring that our solutions were perfectly aligned with Unique Tooling’s needs. Graham and Daniel’s commitment to innovation and quality inspired our team to push the boundaries of what was possible, and for that, we are truly thankful.

This collaboration is a testament to what can be achieved when two teams work together with a shared goal of excellence. At KEVOS, we are proud to have played a role in Unique Tooling’s journey toward greater efficiency and innovation. We look forward to continuing this partnership and exploring new ways to support their growth in the future.
